OFDM Links Two Controversies

If you've been following the digital-TV and fixed-wireless-networking markets lately, you might have noticed two separate, but technologically linked controversies—one ongoing, and the other about to erupt. The former revolves around the FCC's decision back in 1995-1996 to use 8-level, vestigial-sideband (8-VSB) modulation for digital-TV (DTV) transmissions. The latter has to do with Cisco's announcement of an alliance for the standardization of fixed-wireless broadband interfaces.
