摘要

The rules concerning electrical materials can easily trip us up. This is because a great many of them are not in the National Electrical Code (NEC). Many are not even to be found on the labels or included with the instructions accompanying our purchases. While we may pick up some of the information as part of absorbing "the right way to do things," that is chancy. Electricians are required to work to—or beyond—the NEC. Sometimes other rules may apply, like the fire alarm code, life safety code or the TIA/EIA telecom guidelines. This varies; not every jurisdiction that has adopted the NEC has adopted the others.
