NECA Gains More Influence In Developing National Electrical Code

Neca Has Been A Powerful Force in the ongoing development of the National Electrical Code for over a century. Our association is represented on every one of the 19 Code-Making Panels (CMPs) and other technical committees that the National Fire Protection Association, the Code sponsor, uses to update this important document every three years. In fact, six CMPs involved in formulating the just-published 2011 NEC were chaired by NECA representatives. NECA people chair more CMPs than any other organization. NEIS Series Grows With Publication Of New Wiring Device Installation Standard NECA 130-2010, Standard for Installing and Maintaining Wiring Devices is the newest publication in the National Electrical Installation Standards? series published by NECA. It describes installation and maintenance procedures for low-voltage wiring devices permanently installed on building premises wiring systems for residential, commercial, and industrial applications in non-hazardous (unclassified) locations, such as for convenience receptacles, lighting switches, disconnect switches, and fixed, stationary or portable electric signs.
