Utility Scrambles to Respond to California Wildfires

IN WHAT IS BEING DESCRIBED AS the "October Fire Siege," more than 250 wildfires raged across California in a little over one week. According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), at its peak, 21 major wildfires burned more than 245,000 acres. It has taken 11,000 firefighters to battle the blazes that forced 100,000 residents to evacuate and destroyed nearly 8,000 structures. The fires also claimed 42 lives.
