Content and the Diversity of Science

All disciplines change over time, but perhaps none more so than the physical sciences. In chemistry, developments in organic synthesis occur daily, while biology has changed dramatically through new insights gained from genomic investigations and a burgeoning knowledge of molecular interaction at the cellular level. A far-reaching result of expanding frontiers such as these is the merging of chemical and biological research. This phenomenon has required information producers, including CAS, a division of the American Chemical Society, to continually adapt and expand the services we offer scientists in support of their increasingly cross-disciplinary research.
