Many men dream of owning a flame-red Italian sports car: a Ferrari, a Maserati or an open-topped Alfa Romeo, like those that appear in the films of the 1960s. These cars owe their elegant lines to the teams of designers at Pininfa-rina, Bertone and Italdesign, the styling houses based in Turin, in north-west Italy. But as the demand for fancy cars collapses, the car stylists are in difficulty.
