Designing with PC/104 Modules as Components

Consider the dilemma of an engineering manager today: short of staff, faced with an impossible timetable and limited by a tight development budget. "Business as usual" is no longer acceptable. This has caused companies to move away from traditional component-based, proprietary in-house designs to using PC/104 modules as system components. The reason for the change in design approach methodology is that a company can focus upon its core competency by emphasizing areas where they can add value rather than reinvent the computer hardware again and again. It is both a viable and cost-effective solution.
