It looks like the electronics industry has finally recovered from the worst downturn in its history and the first technology-driven recession for the US economy. Many aspects of the business have changed forever, including the luxury of designing products in a vacuum and hoping for market success. In response to these industry trends, distribution invested heavily over the past decade in design chain services to help customers overcome some of the challenges they face getting successful products to market profitably. It is time to take another look at what programs and services are now available to design engineers and why distribution, situated at the center of the technology design and supply chain, is best suited to deliver these services.
