Power Modules Boast Desirable Thermal and EMI Performance

National Semiconductor added three products to its Simple Switcher power module family. The LMZ-Series offers the efficiency of a synchronous switching regulator with the simplicity of a linear regulator, eliminating the external inductor and complex layout challenges. The modules are said to simplify power supply design for FPGAs, microprocessors, DSPs and other POL conversions for medical, broadcast video, communications, industrial and military. Patent-pending packaging technology is asserted to provide low radiated EMI, and the modules' efficient heat dissipation and large exposed-bottom pad allows for operation in high-ambient temperatures without the need for airflow.
