This communication presents results of a complex areal geological-geophysical exploration aimed at specifying geology and outlining zones with petroleum potential on the West Spitsbergen shelf and the adjacent continental margin (Fig. 1). We carried out the following measurements: (1) magnetic field survey with an RMS error of ± 1.3 nT (n = 161) with the differential technique using a magnetometric complex based on two marine automated proton MAMP magnetometers; (2) subaerial gravity survey using GMN-k gravimeters with an accuracy of ± 0.42; (3) continuous seismo-acoustic profiling using a two-channel multielemental marine streamer consisting of the receiver, sparker, and recording GeoPro station; (4) seismic refraction survey (DSS) along two profiles with an inverse configuration using autonomous bottom seismic recorders (ABSR) and a source of periodically excited elastic vibrations installed on the vessel sailing along the profile. We also used a Russian apparatus and equipment of the 480-channel seismic reflection CDP survey produced in Gelendzhik (Sea Technology Co.).
