The Srednyaya Padma deposit occupies a special place among gold deposits due to the precious metaluranium-vanadium mineralization. It is located in the Onega structure (Fig. 1) confined to the NW-extending Tambitsa zone of fold-fault deformations that controls localization of ore-bearing metasomatites and hydrothermal sediments (Fig. 2). The extensive exploration drilling and subsurface mining work carried out by the Industrial-Geological Company Nevskgeologiya with small-scale mapping of epigenetic alterations revealed that in this region they are superposed on Lower Proterozoic dolomites (Yatulian, Tulomozero Formation) and carbonate-micaceous shungite-bearing schists (Ludikovian, Zaonezhskaya Formation), which are metamorphosed to a low-temperature greenschist facies.
