High-Nb Rutile from Upper Mantle Eclogite Xenoliths of the Diamond-Bearing Kimberlite Pipe Catoca (Angola)

The Luanda diamond province (northeastern Angola), including the Catoca kimberlite pipe, which is ranked fourth in the world diamond reserves, is located at the intersection of deep fault zones, called the Lucapa corridor, extending from southwest to northeast for more than 1200 km with the width varying from 50 to 90 km, with the structures of the Archean Kasai Craton. The thickness of the eratonal mantle in this region is considered to be the greatest in Africa, according to high-resolution global seismic tomography. The lithospheric thickness under the Congo-Kasai Craton is more than 300 km.
