NIKHIL CHOPRA AT THE NEW MUSEUM

Mixing theatre, Live art, portraiture, landscape design, photography and sculpture, Nikhil Chopra draws on his native country's colonial history as well as his own personal story. He takes on the role of imaginary characters such as Yog Raj Chitrakar, inspired by his grandfather, who at the New Museum offers the pretext to explore and document the continually changing face of a city like New York. The exhibition dedicated to him (until 2 February 2010) and the performance are part of "Performa 09", the Biennial of new visual art performance taking place in New York from 1 to 22 November.%Mescolando teatro, live art, ritratto, disegno di paesaggio, fotografia e scultura, Nikhil Chopra attinge alla storia coloniale del suo Paese d'origine oltre che alla sua storia personale, e veste i panni di immaginari personaggi.
