Amid a climate of great uncertainty, the Milan Furniture Fair is with us once again. So is it all over for the events organised for the "fuori salone", the presentations that accompany the more institutional trade fair, taking over the entire city? Will there be no more parties for the design setthatkeptentire neighbourhoods awake? No more mad stam-pedingfor the openingof a new showroom? Milan could very well be less frenetic than usual during the forth-comingdesignweek, but nobody will be rejoicing. The confusion, the visitors pushing to get in, is considered the necessary proof of success. So what about the products? Often they have been just an excuse for people to see each other. If this year the noise levels are going to be lower, perhaps there will be more attention given to why everyone comes to Milan: for the design.
