OPEN-AIR THEATRE IN AUSTRIA

On a cold and frosty winter's morning, on the site of a summer open-air opera festival, it is difficult to recall the sound of chirping crickets and the balmy summer breeze that carries the sounds of La Traviata or Rigoletto across the vineyards of Burgenland. What does present itself to the senses, however, is the beautiful architecture created by the Viennese studio AllesWirdGut for the festival in the Roemersteinbruch quarry in St Margareten. The quarry has been in operation since classical times, and has been used for the St Margareten sculpture symposium since 1959.
