Australian designer Nick Rennie has come up with Chiku, a freestanding bookcase that combines good capacity with an unusual design. Five slim shelves in black HPL support seven metal poles (or is it the other way round?) in black painted metal. A whimsical design inspired by the game of shanghai, hovering in space almost as if to defy gravity. What kind of architecture, in the highest circles, has straight columns these days?
