PIANO IN COLOUR,A TRULY SURPRISING RESULT

When in September 2006 visitors to the Franco Albini exhibition entered the gallery of Milan's Triennale, they were seized by the mystery of those myriad suspended photographic panels and subtle shadows that traced out geometric arabesques on the floor. That was Renzo Piano's homage to his former master, a sophisticated exercise on the theme of suspension and lightness. The same sensation was probably felt by people busying along Tottenham Court Road and by more leisurely tourists in Piccadilly or on their way up Shaftesbury Avenue to Covent Garden, or, a bit further up, from Oxford Street to the British Museum.
