GLI ORIZZONTI DI FOSCARINI FOSCARINI'S HORIZONS

Foscarini have come a long way since the production of their first model in 1983, creating countless light fittings, both innovative and memorable. Exactly thirty years after embarking on a course of research and production that has few to rival it on an international level, the company has launched two spaces connecting two cities that while situated far apart, are close in terms of attitude to design. Spazio Brera, in the heart of one of Milan's oldest neighbourhoods (Via Fiori Chiari no. 28/ Via Pontaccio no. 19) and Spazio Soho, in Greene Street, New York are not just simple showrooms but rather open places where Foscarini project their identity and establish a dialogue with the outside world by being inclusive and engaging, "telling their own stories and conveying emotions"-to use the words of Alessandro Vecchiato, co-founder of Foscarini along with Carlo Urbanati. In order to achieve these two objectives, architect and designer Ferruccio Laviani has taken a dynamic and flexible approach to designing the two display spaces, set within two historic buildings. The exhibition design is based on a series of display cases of different sizes that can be configured as desired.
