The Russian city of Naberezhnye Chelny (population 500,000) in the Republic of Tatarstan is home base to Kamaz, the biggest truck factory of the entire Soviet Union. Its urban regeneration has commenced with the main square, a three-phase project that was finished a few months ago. It was designed by a Dutch group named Drom, all of whose members are of Russian origin, internationally trained and former collaborators at OMA/AMO.
