From South to North: a new partnership for development

The new 'philosophy of partnership' presented here originates from a personal and introspective search for our roles as women from the North in the development of the South. Our inquiry has led us by necessity, however, to examine the role of the northern development industry as a whole in the development of both the South and the North. This article is but a progress report on our just-begun exploration for the appropriate role of the First World development practitioner, researcher and activist. At this juncture, we believe that the most promising role is that of a partner.
