The Society for International Development's major theme has. been global human security. In this issue we have focused on children as the mirror of the future, examining the different situations that children are facing in this rapidly changing and insecure world. The majority of the contributions have been by adults; now we would like to give a chance to the young generation themselves to speak out. Thirty-three children (aged from eleven to eighteen) randomly selected from such diverse countries as Australia, Bolivia, Germany, India, Israel, Malawi, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Thailand, Tunisia and USA have contributed views on their life situation and future.
