The application of quality improvement tools/techniques remains high on international agendas for many organizations worldwide in their attempts to heighten performance and competitiveness. Debates surrounding the actual contribution of these industry accredited quality tools/techniques towards increased performance and profitability have remained ongoing and inconclusive. This article considers the experience and lessons gleaned from the UK's Investors in People (IIP) standard.
