Now more than ever before, organizations are continually striving to be more competitive in the marketplace. Economic pressures within many markets are forcing organizations to be more lean and efficient in their operations. Customer expectation for service remains high with a focus on responsiveness, putting many organizations in the often untenable position of conflicting priorities for resource allocation. In an effort to remain competitive, organizations are seeking to differentiate themselves from their competitors by their capabilities and competencies (Christopher and Juttner, 2000).
