Radial cascade of blades represents a circular array of hydrofoils with the purpose to diverge the flow directionpermanently in a way of potential swirling flow. The purpose of the radial cascade which is analyzed is further to bedeveloped as a flow regulation mechanism i.e. guide vanes, suitable for a variable speed Francis hydraulic turbine. Thegeometrical parameters were analyzed in this paper, which represent the radial cascade, which are directly influencedby certain flow parameters, such as streamline angles. The analyzed geometrical parameters, such as inlet and outletradius, hydrofoil chord line, location, its shape modification and the number of guide blades influence each other, fromsome design considerations and from certain flow parameters. A simplified mathematical modeling of the cascade wasperformed in Matlab, parametrization in particular, to obtain flexibility in the generation of multiple designs which aresuitable for some fixed flow parameters that the cascade needs to meet. Hence, several mathematical tests are performedto define which weighted geometric parameters influence the most and the least on the overall cascade design, for furthersimplification and clarification when design and optimization process is performed. .
