Development of clinical probabilistic practice in Britain before Gavarret Part 1: the long 18th century

As noted in the introductory sketch of this study, a there was some (unconscious) probabilistic thinking in British clinics during the 18th century. In this sec- tion, I will consider in more detail the motives for, and the modes of, this reasoning, and look further into the 19th century.
