Background: Multiband color night vision image fusion system is of great significance for realizing the real-time image monitor under all-weather condition. Materials and Methods: According to image fusion algorithm transfer in lαβ colour model, a looked-up table is used to realize the real-time video fusion with FPGA and DSP. A long-distance infrared/low light level (LLL)/visible fusion imaging system has been provided. Results: The system can achieve a real-time monitoring when the combination of infrared thermal imager and CCD work in the daytime, and the combination of infrared thermal imager and low light level television work in the night. Conclusion: Test results show that the system can obtain an approximate natural color image, and has good color consistency. The system is also designed two fields of view, to accommodate large search field, small field tracking needs.
