Instruments for Conservation and Sustainable Use of Water Resources in the Baikal Natural Area

The present paper contains the results of areview of economic instruments for water resources management in the Republicof Buryatia prepared under the OECD project “Improving the use of economicinstruments for water management in the Republic of Buryatia (Lake Baikalbasin)” and aimed at supporting the policy dialogue on water in Russia, incooperation with the EU Water Initiative. Based on the analysis, somerecommendations were developed for improving the use of instruments for waterresources management in the Republic of Buryatia as a part of the Baikal NaturalArea.
