Objective: To study the correlation of MRI lesion volume with nerve injury, oxidative stress response and apoptosis in patients with cerebral infarction. Methods: Patients who were diagnosed with cerebral infarction in Jingzhou First People's Hospital in Hubei Province between March 2015 and October 2017 were selected as the research subjects, and the lesion volume was measured by the head MRI scan and then used to divide the patients with cerebral infarction into those with lesion volume ≥8.5 m 3 and those with lesion volume <8.5 m 3 ; the serum contents of nerve injury, oxidative stress and apoptosis indexes were measured. Results: Serum GDF15, BDNF, PON1 and HO-1 contents of cerebral infarction patients with lesion volume ≥8.5 m 3 were significantly lower than those of cerebral infarction patients with lesion volume <8.5 m 3 whereas GFAP, NSE, Hcy, 8-OHdG, ox-LDL, HSP70, sFas, sFasL, sTRAIL and caspase-3 contents were significantly higher than those of cerebral infarction patients with lesion volume <8.5 m 3 . Conclusion: The increase of MRI lesion volume in patients with cerebral infarction is related to the aggravation of nerve injury, oxidative stress response and apoptosis.
