Concentrations of Airborne Pollen Grains in Eskisehir City (Turkey)

PollengrainsfoundintheairofEskisehirwerestudiedfortwoyears(January2000-December2001)withaDurhamsampler.Duringthisperiod,atotalof47,082pollengrainsbelongingto45taxawererecorded.Ofthese45taxa,26belongedtoarborealand19tonon-arborealplants,ofwhich19,141wereidentifiedin2000and27,941in2001.Ofthetotalnumberofpollengrains,81%werearborealand18%non-arboreal,while1%couldnotbeidentified.ThemajorityoftheinvestigatedpollengrainsasfamiliescamefromPinaceae,Chenopodiaceae/Amaranthaceae,Cupressaceae,Gramineae,Rosaceae,Fabaceae,Oleaceae,Cruciferae,Compositae,Urticaceae,Ulmaceae,Cistaceae,Moraceae,withthegenerabeingSalix,Quercus,Ailanthus,Fraxinus,Fagus,Populus,Platanus,Cedrus,Artemisia,Corylus,Plantago,Juglans,AcerandCarpinusrespectively.PollenconcentrationsreachedtheirhighestlevelsinMay(54.36%)
