Distilled pre-scientific, modern science, scientific method, and the scientific spirit as tools of inquiry: the basis for scientific and objective research process

In this paper, many first year graduate students when assigned research papers in partial fulfillment of course work they have difficulties in undertaking such assignments because most of them lack prior exposure to research procedures. Admittedly, their problem is compounded by the fact that most of them join Universities at mature age and from various backgrounds. The paper takes a snap – short foray into historical past by illustrating the pre-scientific frame-of-mind and its pitfalls. This should serve as an inducement for all to appreciate and embrace the imperatives of modern science and technology as twin foundations of objective research process for the betterment of human life in the present and the future. The paper further, gives the basic fundamentals of scientific method, research procedures, and final report writing guided by “ the scientific spirit”.
