摘要

Objetivo. Explorar los factores de riesgo psicosociales de los cuidadores de la salud y la relación que tienen con la aparición de eventos adversos en los pacientes, específicamente las infecciones del torrente circulatorio. Materiales y métodos. Se realizó un estudio de corte transversal en 177 cuidadores del servicio de Internación de una Institución Prestadora de Servicios de Salud de alta complejidad de la ciudad de Medellín, Colombia entre enero y febrero de 2014; el estudio analizó la atención ofrecida a 56 pacientes a quienes se les puso un catéter, de los cuales 14 sufrieron infecciones del torrente circulatorio a las 24 – 72 horas de puesto el catéter y 42 no presentaron infección alguna. Resultados . En el personal de enfermería no hay evidencia que los factores de riesgo psicosociales incidan en la aparición de infecciones del torrente circulatorio mientras que en el grupo de los auxiliares de enfermería si se evidencia este fenómeno. Conclusiones. Este resultado nos motiva a hacer recomendaciones para mantener y generar factores laborales que lleven a una buena condición de salud física, mental y social de los cuidadores. To explore the psychosocial risk factors of health caregivers and the relationship they have with the occurrence of adverse events in patients, specifically bloodstream infections. Materials and methods . A cross-sectional study was carry out in 177 caregivers in a high complexity hospital in Medellin-Colombia, between January and February of 2014. The study analyzed the attention offered to 56 patients who received a catheter, 14 of them undertook bloodstream infections within 24-72 hours after the catheter implantation while 42 remained uninfected. Results. There is no evidence that the psychosocial risk factors in the nursing staff have an impact on the appearance of bloodstream infections, while there is evidence of this phenomenon on the nursing assistants’ staff. Conclusions. These results encourage us to advise health leaders to promote and generate optimal physical, mental and social health conditions for the caregivers.
