Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of PDCA cycle on quality management in central sterile supply department. Methods The operation process in central sterile supply department was improved by PDCA cycle between July 2015 and December 2015. Four hundred pieces of sterilized surgical instruments were selected before implementation of PDCA(between January 2015 and June 2015)and after implementation(between July 2015 and December 2015)respectively, for quality assessment of disinfectant usage, package, sterilization and quality of sterilized products. The self-made questionnaire was used to investigate the satisfaction degree of medical staffs from other department. Results The qualification rate in each process mention above was increased after implementation compared with that before implementation(P0.01). The satisfaction rate of medical staffs from other departments was 92.73% after implementation and was 69.09% before implementation, with a significant difference(P0.05). Conclusion The implementation of PDCA cycle in central sterile supply department can effectively improve the working efficacy and sterilization quality.
