Abstract:Objective To investigate the potential factors of postpartum depression, and to provide highquality nursing during puerperal period. Methods The baseline characteristic and clinical data of 256 puerperae, such as age, education level, parity, neonatal sex and condition, maternal occupation, spouse occupation, family relationship, familybased care, economic stability, health status of relatives, place of residence and delivery type, were retrospectively collected by selfmade questionnaire. Total 256 puerperae were assigned to depression group (n=13) and nondepression group (n=243) according to diagnosis on postpartum depression. Results There were significant difference in spouse occupation, economic stability, neonatal health conditions, familybased care and family relationship between two groups (P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis show that the spouse occupation and economic stability were two major influence factors of postpartum depression (P<0.05). Conclusion Social factors such as spouse occupation, neonatal health conditions, family harmony, familybased care and economic stability may have impact on postpartum depression .
