Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of problembased learning (PBL) teaching methods based on medical video in teaching of Communicable Diseases Nursing. Methods A total of 100 nursing students from secondary vocational school were assigned to the observation group (n=47) and the control group (n=53). The students in the observation group were taught by PBL teaching method based on medical video, and students in the control group received conventional teaching methods. Selfmade questionnaire was use to investigate the evaluation of students on different teaching methods in two groups. The mastery of communicable diseases nursing was assessed by closedbook examination. Results Students in the observation group achieved a higher score in theoretical knowledge assessment compared with the control group (P<0.01). Compared with the control group, more students in the observation group considered the PBL teaching method based on medical video as an better way of improving learning wills, initiative, independent thinking skills, problemsolving skills, cooperation conscious and selfexpression ability (P<0.05 or P<0.01). The satisfaction rate on teaching method was 97.87% in the observation group and was 77.36% in the control group, with a significant difference (P<0.01). Conclusion PBL teaching method based on medical video can enhance the mastery of communicable diseases nursing knowledge and skills in students. It can also increase teaching quality of teachers and learning initiative in students.
