Abstract:ABSTRACT: Objective To observe the application effect of hollow ladder foam dressing in the prevention of facial pressure sores in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) combined with respiratory failure. Methods A total of 82 COPD patients with respiratory failure were randomly divided into control group and observation group, with 41 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional method, and the observation group was treated with foam dressing on the pressured face. And the facial pressure sores and discomfort symptoms of facial skin were observed. Results The incidence rate of pressure ulcer was 22% in the control group and 2.4% in the observation group, the incidence of facial skin discomfort symptoms was 65.9% in the control group and 17.1% in the observation group. The difference were statistically significant between the two groups(P0.05). Conclusion Foam dressing is effective in preventing the occurrence of facial pressure sores, reducing the discomfort symptoms of facial skin and enhancing the adherence of respiratory treatment for patients with non-invasive respiratory mask.
