Minpaku’s Oceania Gallery wasrenovated in 2011. It has five sections:human dispersal into Oceania, livingoff the sea, living on islands, contactwith outside world and expressions ofindigenous identity. The foregroundof the outrigger canoe, Chechemeni,is covered with a large satellite photoof Oceania showing the audience howvast the area is and how far from NewGuinea to Easter Island and to SouthAmerica. Among the newly selectedexhibition articles, there are twonoteworthy fine replicas in the Oceaniagallery.
