This paper examines the work of educational libraries with rare and valuable documents based on questionnaire. Information is presented in the comparative table for the tasks required for the preservation, using, digitizing, microfilming and restoration of these documents. The structure and features of the storage process of rare and valuable documents in the collections of the V.A. Sukhomlynsky State Scientific Pedagogical Library of Ukraine network and educational libraries in Ukraine are examined with a view to submit these documents to the database of the Single State Register of Cultural Heritage and to create an integrated sectoral resource based on the main educational library. The problems and ways of creating, storing and use of these documents of the national heritage of Ukraine are determined.
