Asinformationliteracycontinuesinitscentralitytomanyacademiclibraries’missions,alineofinquiryhasdevelopedinresponsetoACRL’schargetodevelopinformationliteratecitizens.Theliteratureofcriticalinformationliteracyquestionswidelyheldassumptionsaboutinformationliteracyandconsidersinwhatwayslibrariansmayencouragestudentstoengagewithandactuponinformation’scomplexandinherentlypoliticalnature.Thisreviewexplorestheresearchintocriticalinformationliteracy,includingcriticalpedagogyandcritiquesofinformationliteracy,inordertoprovideanentrypointforthisemergingandchallengingapproachtoinformationliteracy.
