Empirical research on influence mechanism of paternalistic leadership on team innovation performance

Teams have become popular trend inside organizations, in recent years. Among the factors affecting the team innovation performance, leadership style is proved to be one of the key factors. The leadership behaviors are under the influence of cultural roots. With the rapid economic development in Asia for more than ten years. Chinese leadership model begins to have the attention of the scholars, the unique Chinese leadership model a???? paternalistic leadership arises at the historic moment. Based on the matched data of 96 team leaders and 540 team members, through statistical analysis, this article found that: when the emotional atmosphere is positive, in paternalistic leadership, it is positive correlation between benevolent leadership and team innovation performance, and it is negative correlation between authoritarian leadership and team innovation performance. When the emotional atmosphere is negative, it is negative correlation between benevolent leadership and team innovation performance, and it is positive correlation between authoritarian leadership and team innovation performance. Finally, through the discussion of the results, this article provides corresponding practical suggestions on using the western theory of positive and negative leadership behavior for the team innovation performance development enterprise in China's economic transformation period, as well as the relationship construction between leaders and subordinates, and puts forward the research prospect.
