Putting your inspections on the map

Every inspection occurs at a location somewhere on the earth and knowing the coordinates are important for many reasons. For example, in pipe thickness monitoring regimes, allowing the inspector to return to the exact same location permits reliable monitoring. Imagine, then, that every inspection is mapped using their unique map coordinates. It allows for risk-based inspection (RBI) to be undertaken in a geographic dimension and subsequent trending to occur based on location in the plant. Tagging your inspection data with coordinates paves the way for emerging automated technologies and a new way of interrogating integrity data.
