Defining the Cloud

The "cloud" is aptly named. It seems as amorphous as a sky of scattered cumulous on a windy day. DE has collected the glossary of terms below to help give it definition. "Cloud computing is a model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, serv ers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction," according to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
