Wa Ku, Wa Ku, Kahoku: a Japan-wide Workshop Forum

Citizen participation is becoming an important idea in the field of design and planning in Japan, and the workshop is perceived as an effective method of implementation. In the past few years there have been several experimental and innovative workshops in Japan, some of which were inspired by the translation of Design games (Sanoff, 1978) into Japanese. However, at the same time, there is still confusion about the organization and purpose of a workshop, and some people have a prejudice against its application in design and planning.
