The Dental Dock

Pediatric facilities are always fun design projects. The LaBiche Architectural Group was able to use imagination, themes, colors, textures and whimsical shapes to enhance what may not be a pleasurable experience for children when designing the Dental Dock. The doctor and staff of the Dental Dock were keen on making the children's dental experience one to remember. The facility infuses both clinical requirements with fun spaces which incorporate both static design elements with the latest in video gaming.rnThe exterior elements of the building encompass the look of the lighthouse/ caretaker houses of the Atlantic coast and old Maine lighthouses. The exterior materials of clapboard siding, divided light windows and historical paint colors mimic the old Maine lighthouse theme. Situated in a mixed area of both commercial and residential buildings its shape and design are appropriate for both the scale and character of the surrounding neighborhood. The parking is reinforced concrete surrounded by tropical plantings. Covered parking is provided for some of the staff at the rear of the building. A landscaped area consistent with the scheme of the architecture is located at the rear of the building and can be viewed from the examination chairs in the clinic.
