Biloxi Civic Center & Public Library

The new Biloxi Civic Center and Public Library was built near downtown Biloxi to replace facilities lost to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The project site is bordered by Howard Avenue, Bellman Street, Lee Street and Washington Street and was the site of the old Biloxi High School and the Dukate Middle School. The building faces Howard Avenue and a series of plazas joins Howard Avenue to the 12,000 square foot courtyard which separates the library and the civic center and provides a common entrance point for both. A covered, open air gallery provides sheltered access to both facilities and creates an entrance on the back side of the facilities from the parking area.
