New Forecourt Designed by DHA Architects Gives New Aesthetic Quality to the Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium

One gets excited stepping into the new forecourt of the Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium. The project is a poetic expression beyond the physical form into the natural world. The space is infinite, not defined. Prior to 2013 the forecourt was a typical 1960s traffic turnaround designed more towards autos than people. Fani Danadjieva Hansen of Danadjieva Hansen Architects (DHA, Inc.) of Tiburon, Calif. was challenged by the Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium to create an accessible entry compliant with ADA (American with Disabilities Act] and to preserve the historical character of Frank Lloyd Wrighfs Marin County Civic Center master plan.
