A German company is bringing boards for a new sport craze to market faster and at a fraction of the cost that would have been incurred using conventional technology.rnFlame Offroadboards is working with Protomoid to produce 5,000 wheel rim halves for mountain boarding, a sport in which young people slide down mountain slopes without the need for snow.rnProfessionally manufactured boards cost around 2,000 Euros, but young German entrepreneur Albert Miiller saw an opportunity for a design of board that would retail for between 450 and 1,000 euros. The first wheel rims were found to break under extreme conditions so it was necessary to change the material, and turn to a new glass fibre reinforced, stabilised material with greater elasticity, previously used for wheel rims on BMX bikes.
