For all the research and development currently devoted to them at the moment, it seems fair to say that electric vehicles still have a long way to go before they become a widely-accepted, mainstream technology.rnRange anxiety caused by short battery life, high vehicle costs and a lack of charging infrastructure are the major factors holding the technology back. Thus, in the short term, the most likely niche market for electric vehicles is as second cars, but research nonetheless continues apace.
