Das aus dem »Plateau«, dem »Schwebekörper« und dem »Kukus« bestehende Ensemble des Mitteldeutschen Multimediazentrums steht auf einem Grundstück direkt an der Saale am Rande der Innenstadt von Halle. Als Verbindungsglied zwischen Altstadt und Neustadt kommt ihm eine wichtige städtebauliche Funktion zu. Eigentlich als Initialprojekt für den Ausbau Sachsen-Anhalts zum Medienzentrum gedacht, drohen sich die Stadtväter in der letzten Phase der Realisierung derzeit selber im Wege zu stehen.%The Mitteldeutsches Multimediazentrum building ensemble, consisting of the »Plateau«, the »Floating Body« and the »Cube«, is located on a site directly next to the River Saale on the periphery of Halle's inner city. It plays an important urban design role as a link between the Old Town and the modern city. While in fact intended as an initial project for the development of Sachsen-Anhalt into a media centre, the local authorities are threatening to put their own obstacles in the way during the final stages of realisation.
