As technology has ascended in terms of both intricacy and expanse, a vast set of technology solutions have become available for the average user-both in the personal and professional sphere. The standard user now understands much more about his technology or devices and understands that he can exercise the power of choice in the technology environment which exists today. Mobility and portability have emerged as key factors that have transformed the way the workforce functions and enhances productivity and efficiency. Both IT decision makers (ITDMs) and employees acknowledge the benefits of portable technology, whether they are used in isolation or in combination with two, three or even four other devices. In its professional 'avatar', the user is still aware of the potential of using devices, software, and services one is at ease with. But in the workplace, the game changes. Here, the use of technology is governed by a separate body, which decides what is best suited to the needs of the entire workforce. In the workplace, it is business leaders, IT managers, and human resource professionals who are required to take the onus of putting in place technology solutions which justify the investment required, and which can maximize employee productivity. In short, the most cost-effective way to ensure the organization is operating at maximum employee potential. Today's work is no longer defined by physical boundaries or time constraints. In an increasingly competitive business environment, employers and employees alike are keen on leveraging technology in the best possible manner to boost productivity and therefore profitability.
