Novell's Net2000: Superglue for network apps?

Novell has announced a new suite of "Super APIs," which it promises to deliver in the fall of 1996 under the name Net2000. Sitting between the software applications and the underlying NetWare network services, these APIs will give development staffs a quicker way to build, manage, and maintain an array of distributed applications for an enterprise network by letting developers bind other vendors' objects together into an application that will run on top of NetWare to leverage its full range of services. Net2000 is being built with procedural APIs that will support all leading 3GL tools, 4GL tools, and even Internet development tools. Novell sees Net2000 as an all-roads-lead-to-NetWare form of middleware that, in effects, routes all requests for services from non-NetWare clients back to NetWare.
